As we all know, Mayor of Redmond, Angela Birney, does not want to have meetings and dialogues with people of Redmond. One Redmond City Council Member agreed to have a neighborhood meeting next week with concerned community members. This is not an official meeting with City of Redmond, rather, just a council member’s personal commitment to engage and listen to people of Redmond. All are invited.

Meeting Time: Monday, August 9th, 5pm to 6:30pm

Location: 2222 152nd Ave NE Redmond WA 98052

How to sign up: Sign up via EventBrite .

Who is the most to blame for having a hotel permitting drug and/or alcohol use in City of Redmond?

There is only 0.3 mile from Silver Cloud hotel where is going to be built as a place to be permitted for drugs and alcohol for homeless to our campus. We’re a school for daycare and elementary young children. And I understand that there are lots of daycare centers and schools around this area. It is not save. Please take our opinion seriously . With appreciation!

I work at a private school that is within walking distance of the Silver Cloud Inn. I would be afraid for my safety and the safety of the students and business owners having a homeless shelter that will likely have mentally compromised or drug using people staying there. Maybe build the homeless shelter next to city hall instead of by schools, daycares, and small businesses?

I totally agree that the government should take care of homeless. Black lives matter , and the homeless lives matter too. However, this location is not a good option. I highly recommend the Marriott hotel located at Bellevue downtown. On the one side, it is next to the Bellevue Police Station, Bellevue Transit Center, theater and a lot of fanny restaurants and shopping centers like NM, Braven, Bellevue Square. Our government should consider all the needs of homeless instead of only find a place to lock them in. Thank you.

Another quick comment on this issue. Why are the homeless having shelter built for them while tax paying residents of Redmond are now having to worry about their safety? Who is really paying for this homeless shelter? I think we could figure out a better solution to the homeless issue rather than housing them.

I have so many questions about this issue and am not sure where to get accurate information. I’ve read that this is going to be a homeless shelter, it’s going to be a safe place for homeless people to get help, it’s a place for homeless to do drugs. Are the homeless going to receive help? Will they have access to mental health care, rehabilitation programs? Will they need to follow any policies to make sure everyone stays safe and healthy? Where can I get honest information without the bias?
