Who is the most to blame for having a hotel permitting drug and/or alcohol use in City of Redmond?

There’s still time to stop the homeless shelter!!!!!

I called the city of Redmond and asked to speak with the Mayor’s office. I was connected to someone who works for the city. I was told that the Mayor could stop it. The last step to getting that homeless shelter is that the Mayor has to change the Building Permit’s occupancy. If she doesn’t do it then the homeless shelter can’t be there. PLEASE pass on the news! STOP THE MADNESS! Save the kids and safety of the Eastside! You can email mayorcouncil@redmond.gov and demand that the building permit’s occupancy not be changed to allow the occupancy to include a homeless shelter!

Thanks for passing on the information, Scarlett. On 8/17, despite hearing strong oppositions from Redmond residents and businesses on the same night, city council unanimously passed Ordinance No. 3059 (https://redmond.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=9714814&GUID=936D3D1D-D972-441F-B302-08DEB14344A1 ), and changed Redmond zoning code to accommodate the Redmond homeless hotel. Planning director Carol Helland claimed they had to pass the ordinance in order to bring Redmond in compliance with HB 1220. However, other cities, such as Bellevue and Maple Valley were able to protect interests of their constituents while in compliance with HB 1220. Redmond, on the other hand, is giving away all the protections its constituents deserve and paving the way for this and future homeless hotels in Redmond. Contact mayorcouncil@redmond.gov and demand them to take into public input and amend the ordinance.
